Fired in Faith
In my Body of Work, I explore my connection to Hindu culture and ancestral identity through the sacred architecture and spiritual symbolism of the temples in Varanasi, India. Using ceramics as a primary medium, I hand-built terracotta recreations of temples that hold personal and cultural significance for my family. The earthy, fired clay echoes the permanence of these sacred sites, while also referencing the connection between body, earth and spirit found in Hindu belief. The process of working with raw clay and transforming it through fire became a metaphor for spiritual transformation. This work is a homage to the spiritual legacy I have inherited; a quiet act of preservation, reverence and creative devotion.
