Divine Cargo
My Body of Work is a vibrant celebration of my Indian heritage, a reflection of the colours, symbols and stories that have shaped my identity. Drawing inspiration from Indian truck art, Hindu and Sikh iconography and the sacred presence of the Holy Cow, I have created a series of works that honour my cultural roots and explore my personal connection to them. Using a combination of printmaking, photography, painting and assemblage, I have layered rich textures, vivid colours and symbolic imagery to reflect the joyful chaos and spiritual depth of India. Indian truck art, with its bold typography, ornamental flourishes and saturated palettes, has influenced the aesthetic and energy of this work. This work is both a tribute and a journey: a way for me to connect more deeply to where I come from, to celebrate traditions that are still very much alive in my family and to express pride in a heritage that continues to guide and inspire me.
