Race Across the Stars
My Body of Work explores the Chinese Zodiac and the Great Race, weaving together ancient traditions of landscape, mythology and architecture. Using ink and charcoal, I draw from the visual language of classical Chinese art while embracing the expressive, time-layered approaches of Sun Xun, William Kentridge and Ai Weiwei. These works are deeply personal, rooted in the stories told to me as a child, yet expanded to consider astrology, memory and our place within the cosmos. The tactile qualities of ink and charcoal allow me to capture both the delicacy and the permanence of cultural narratives, while fragmented compositions echo the way memories shift and fade. Through this work, I connect to my cultural heritage, reinterpreting its symbols within a contemporary visual framework. My landscapes become arenas where myth and place converge, worlds suspended between past and present, real and imagined.
