Teddy Wilkins
Cycles of Abundance

In my Body of Work, I have explored the humble pumpkin as a recurring motif, drawing on its rich symbolism of abundance, harvest and transformation. Through the material practices of ceramics, photography and printmaking, I have investigated its shape, texture and form; experimenting with surface treatments to reinterpret the pumpkin as a contemporary object. The process allowed me to move beyond literal representation, focusing instead on the sculptural potential and textural complexity inherent in the form. Inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s deep connection to the pumpkin, I embraced both its playful and meditative qualities, while also engaging with its associations to beauty, decay, growth and change. My work seeks to transform this familiar, everyday subject into an object of contemplation, celebrating its cycles of life and renewal, while inviting viewers to consider the transformative power of ordinary forms within the context of contemporary art.
